"Alright Campers, time for Cabin assignments!" The plucky blonde woman had a list a mile thick. Kris Allen was very glad, for the moment, that he was Kris Allen. Being an "A" had it's privileges.
He was the "junior counselor" for cabin 19. Having just graduated highschool, he didn't feel very "junior" but if helping kids tune their guitars gave him half off his camp tuition, it was worth it. He was glad just to have made the cut - plus being a JC put him on the fast track to having a kick-awesome summer job all through college. If their was a downside it was the uniform.
The rest of the campers got to wear whatever they wanted, but Kris was stuck in the official garb, which consisted of a size small purple t-shirt and a pair of forest green short-shorts like the ones his track coach wore.
It was horrendous. Kris felt sure that half the seated children could see UP his shorts as he collected his welcome packet and made his way to cabin 19.
He was not prepared for the sight that greeted him when he walked into the door.
Two men were wrapped around eachother, still clothed - thank God - but the clothing seemed only a minor inconvenience. One of them, a man of about his stature, was straddling the lap of a taller man with copper hair and the bluest eyes Kris had ever seen.
Kris knew because the blue-eyed man had pulled away from the kiss and was staring at him.
"What is it, baby?" The smaller man purred. His partner stood up abruptly, sending the other man almost tumbling to the ground.
"I wasn't expecting anyone so soon. God, I'm sorry."
"Oh,no. It's my fault. I'm, um, an "A.'" Kris apologised, taking a step back as if to leave,
"You certainly are." The redhead quirked an eyebrow and Kris flushed.
"I mean alphabetically. I'm Kris Allen."
"Oh! My junior!" The man clapped his hands together. "I'm so excited!"
"Adam?" The forgotten man asked, sounding more than a little annoyed.
"Oh, I'm Adam Lambert, your Counsellor. And that's...my ex-boyfriend Brad. He's in a different cabin."
"EX boyfriend?" Brad said, looking peeved.
"We broke up last summer at the end of camp." Adam replied calmly. "And we haven't gotten back together yet."
"We do this EVERY YEAR. Didn't think we really needed to ask." Brad moved closer to Adam, looking Kris up and down. This time Kris was sure his clothes were too small. They were certainly too tight before, and after what he had just witnessed they felt even more tiny.
"Well maybe this year is different." Adam said, raising his chin towards the door. Brad left in a huff.
"Don't mind him. He coaches the drama kids and subsequently..."
"He's dramatic." Kris finished. "But I can see his point. That was quite a hello for an ex boyfriend. How do you greet your current boyfriends?"
"Wanna find out?" Adam offered, holding out his hand. Kris gulped as he looked down at Adam's tiny green shorts. Maybe these uniforms weren't so bad after all.
